Fight with Karen!
Donation protected
Hi!
For those who don't know me, my name is Karen Price. I would like to share my story with you in hopes that you may help me get thru this battle to save my life.
When I had Hepatitis C. (Hep C) it affected my liver. (Hep C is a an inflammation of the liver caused by a virus or a toxin. It can also effect other organs such as your kidneys.)
Five years ago I had a liver transplant that saved my life. I was fortunate to have a living donor that was a match. My son, Brian Bears donated part of his liver for my survival. There are no words that can define the gratitude for a mother to have my son endure such a surgery. I was beyond elated and will be eternally grateful.
Recently I found out my body has rejected the liver and I am in need of a full/complete liver and a kidney transplant. I am finally on The Provincial Transplantation Waiting List. I can be called in for surgery at any time with a moments notice. The surgery will be done at the Toronto General Hospital.
I've been travelling with my wonderful supportive partner Kerry Leonard back and forth from Ottawa to Toronto for countless tests and meetings.
For those who are not aware of a transplant process, not all costs are covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (O.H.I.P.) We need financial aid to cover out of pocket our travel costs, (flights) hospitality (hotel) and some medical expenses (medicines). This financial aid will also help us to cover at least one week prior to surgery and one month after surgery for hotel along with our regular monthly home expenses.
We are reaching out to all of you for some financial aid to help me fight this battle. The biggest fight of all!
I couldn't do this without the help of my partner Kerry, my family and friends.
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all the Love, support and prayers.
Blessings, Karen
Kerry
My son Brian and daughter Samantha
