Aloha friends and family,
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who has supported us during this challenging time. Your love, prayers, generosity, well wishes, and positive thoughts have been our guiding light, and we truly wouldn't have made it this far without your support.
For those who may not be aware, on April 29, 2023, my mom, Jessie, was rushed to the ER. Despite feeling fatigued and experiencing bleeding for months, we never anticipated the severity of the situation. Her hospital stay involved blood transfusions, scans, ultrasounds, and a biopsy. A week later, we received the heartbreaking news of a positive cancer diagnosis, leading us to consult with an oncologist as soon as possible.
MRI and PET/CT scans revealed Stage 3B Cervical Cancer, with a tumor measuring at 16 cm. Due to the size of the tumor, it was also impacting her bladder and kidney. After a series of treatments, including radiation, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy—totaling 26 rounds of radiation, 6 chemo treatments, and 5 brachytherapy sessions—my mom faced the challenges with remarkable strength. We were advised to wait 3 months to rescan, and during this time my mom did all she could to regain her strength. Things were finally starting to look up.
However, a minor surgery in December uncovered complications, prompting additional tests. On January 18, 2024, we learned that the cancer had spread to other lymph nodes, requiring a new round of treatment. Jessie will be undergoing 6 rounds chemotherapy & immunotherapy every three weeks. We are set to have her port inserted next week.
While my mom remains in good spirits, the toll on her health has prevented her from walking or standing for extended periods. She has been unable to work since her initial ER visit, and the uncertainty of her return to work adds to our concerns. We are reaching out for support, big or small, to alleviate any financial burden. Despite the fortunate coverage of medical expenses, there are ongoing monthly bills and additional costs for alternative treatments like Vitamin C Infusions, not covered by insurance.
We understand the challenges of these times, and your support in any form—financial, spiritual, or emotional—is immensely valued. If you are unable to donate, a share, repost, or prayer means the world to us. We are grateful for your love. Together, we believe we can overcome this. Thank you for being part of our journey.
