Hello everyone,
For those that are new to our story, hello, my name is Jayme and that handsome man up there is my dog Winston. I am chronically ill and disabled, and Winston also has medical complications of his own. We have been homeless for a year now and we truly would not still be here if not for all of the support and love we have received during that time.
That being said, we have also been hit with a very large amount of rejection and discrimination during my eight months of contacting every organization possible, in hopes that someone could take us in. Unfortunately the homelessness epidemic has grown exponentially in my area over the last couple of years, and simply put, there is no where for us to go. We do not have family or friends that are able to take us in, so we have been going back and forth between hotels, tents, and short stays with generous strangers that have been willing to take us in for a month here and there. It’s truly taken a village to get this far, and it kills me that it feels like we are right back where we started.
Going into the new year, we will have to leave the place that has been temporarily housing us, and will need to go back to an extended stay motel. The goal that is set would allow us to stay there for two months while I attempt to find us a new plan for March and April. The monthly cost for these stays are $67/night plus taxes and fees, which ends up coming out to roughly $2,200. So if we are able to meet our goal, it would help us cover 3/4 of the costs for two months (I have past donations to cover the rest).
I know with the holidays approaching finances are extra tight and everyone is struggling. Please believe me when I say, there is never any pressure to donate, sharing our link with your communities is always extremely helpful. And truly every share and penny helps.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for caring about us <3
