Our friend, our hero and the most amazing young man we've ever known has passed away at the age of 17. Fenov Pierre-Louis, known for his trademark smile, optimistic outlook and vast intellect, left this earth on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. 

If you had the pleasure of meeting Fenov or hearing him speak, you know that he was always the brighest light in the room.This, despite the fact that he had bravely been battling Stage 4 Nueroblastoma kancer since the age of 9. If you spent just 5 minutes talking to Fenov, you walked away feeling better about yourself. Though he had been through innumerable battles in his fight against a vile disease, he always maintained the sunniest of dispositions. He maintained the highest of grades, as evidenced by his  induction into the National Honor Society. This was accomplished despite Fenov missing a great amount of time from school due to his constant treatments. Simply put, Fenov Pierre-Louis was a brilliant and amazing young man.

Together with his devoted mother Mathilda, Fenov  bravely faced many ups and downs in his battle with kancer.  
Most all of Mathilda's time was devoted to caring for Fenov, ferrying him from their home in New Jersey to his treatments at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) or other area hospitals. Like Fenov, Mathilda always cared for Fenov with a smile on her face. 

Through his efforts as a Jambassador for the Jam Kancer In The Kan Foundation Fund, his special friendship with New York Islanders star Anders Lee, and his efforts on behalf of Relay for Life at his school, The Academy for Information Technology, Fenov  touched and inspired many people. Videos of him speaking have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, and so many people have benefited from his words of wisdom. and his positive message. Though he knew his time on earth was limited, he welcomed the opportunity to motivate people. 

In May of 2018, Fenov penned a poem that included the following words:

How I could make a lasting impression upon the earth?

I want to make people proud, and inspire with words,

And inspire with actions, inspire with who I am,

Who would’ve thought that it would start with a speech at a Kancer Jam?


We are blessed that Fenov has come into our lives, and we pledge to continue his efforts and carry forth his message.
