Felines & Canines B-Day Campaign
Beschermde donatie
For the 4th year in a row I'm spending the month before my birthday campaigning for a cause that is near and dear to me. My 15-year-old standard schnauzer Hobbes passed away in February, and this year I am fundraising to support Felines & Canines in memory of our singular old-lady pup. I have always said that I wouldn't be who I am today without Hobbes.
About the Cause
Felines & Canines , an animal shelter right in my neighborhood, is working towards opening a second facility in Alabama. "The property will be a fully-staffed, no-kill shelter consisting of outdoor space, plus an 8,000-square-foot warehouse that will be able to house about 80 dogs and more than 50 cats as well as a surgical suite and isolation room for pregnant animals, newborns and those who are sick. " Read the DNA Info Article Here
Mission Statement: "Felines & Canines is dedicated to providing a safe and loving shelter to abandoned, injured, abused and neglected animals until their permanent adoptive home is found. We strengthen the human/animal relationship through counseling, education, and compassion." Founded in 1977 as one of Chicago’s first cage-less, no-kill cat shelters, Felines & Canines operated as Felines Inc. for more than 30 years. Located in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, Felines Inc. provided exceptional housing and care for more than 200 feline residents, with a focus on “special needs” animals.
