We are excited to share our new initiative as we transition from Woodstock Kitten Nursery & Rescue to Oxford County Feline Wellness & Outreach Programs! To support our mission of providing an extended TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return) Program mainly to help farmers and colony caretakers, as well as, educating the community about responsible cat care and reducing abandonment and relinquishment, we aim to establish a mobile classroom on our property. The new space will be used to hold workshops and educational classes so the shed can then be used to house feral cats while they heal from surgery before going back to their home property.

Why We Need a Mobile Classroom:

Currently, our Paws & Whiskers program is being run out of a shed on our property that lacks essential facilities, including a bathroom and wheelchair access. This inadequate setup limits our ability to provide comprehensive education and outreach. We have explored rental locations, but finding reasonably priced spaces that accommodate our ambassador cats has proven exceedingly challenging. We need this existing shed space to expand our TNVR program as we currently can only help those that have a space for the post surgery cats to heal.

Project Overview:

We are raising funds to purchase a previously owned portable classroom that will be renovated to meet our needs. This classroom will allow us to conduct vital educational workshops and outreach programs for the community.

Key Details of the Project:

Mobile Classroom Purchase: Used portable classrooms range from $10,000 to $30,000, depending on their age and condition.

Immediate Renovations: The materials for our first renovations will cost approximately $3,000 and will include:

Installing a wheelchair ramp for accessibility.

Creating a wheelchair-accessible washroom.

Transport Costs: Moving the classroom to our property is estimated to cost between $3,500 and $5,000.

Community Support: All general contracting for the renovations will be generously provided free of charge by a local contractor, with additional support from other local contractors donating their time and expertise.

Our Vision for Programming:

We aim to provide fun and inclusive programming for our vulnerable community members, where they can engage in joyful arts and crafts activities while snuggling with our furry friends. In addition to this, we want to develop programs to help families introduce a new pet into their household with small children and create a program for expecting families to help them cope with the introduction of a new family member into their home for a smooth transition. We also want to introduce programs that teach older children and families how to properly care for cats, ensuring that everyone can provide a safe and loving space for all.

This new space will also allow us to expand our TNVR program to assist more farmers and colony care takers.
