Hey everyone, My name is Joshua Shirley, and I am a proud citizen of the beautiful island of Jamaica.
I am asking for your generosity and assistance in supporting me to rebuild homes and lift my fellow Jamaicans back on their feet as they prepare for devastation through Hurricane Melissa.
The island has never experienced a disaster near the caliber of Hurricane Melissa. It breaks my heart to know that unfortunately many Jamaicans will have to start their lives from ground zero with their houses and everything they own being destroyed.
In addition to the loss of houses, there will be a countless number of residents with no source of food and dependent on assistance for survival. I will be working with Chef Matthieu Masson-Duceppe and his amazing team to assist them with the supplies and ingredients he needs as he prepares to cater for thousands of people.
Along with providing ingredients for as many people in need as possible, your donations will be used to rebuild homes and assist residents of the Portland Cottage area in Clarendon. This residency was recently severely affected by Hurricane Beryl, as you can see in the images above. We will work hand in hand to lift these citizens back upon their feet by assisting them in rebuilding their houses and community.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping these families recover and get back on their feet. I’ll be sharing regular updates and photos on the Instagram page @liftupja so everyone can see exactly how their contributions are being used.
Every dollar helps us rebuild homes, feed families, and bring comfort to the people of Portland Cottage.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and love for Jamaica.
