The family was home last weekend when a massive nearly 200 ton eucalyptus tree fell and split the house in two. Jose was pinned down under the tree with debris from the roof caving in. After an hour he was finally rescued by a crew of brave firefighters and taken to the nearest hospital. He has suffered major injuries and has a long road to recovery. The family of 6 (2 adults, 4 children) are currently displaced with no end in sight. The children are still attending school but their belongings are scattered or trapped inside the house that is unsafe to enter. What remains of the house is undergoing further damage due to the storms that California is currently enduring. The family has lost so much of their personal belongings in this freak accident, living expenses build up so quickly, and with Jose being the sole income provider, and a long road to recovery after his surgery, the future is uncertain, which as you can imagine, is very unnerving for the family. No one can predict what hard times will present themselves in the future. Please help ease the burden on Jose, Heather and their children. There will be challenges unbeknownst to them in addition to paying for insurance, medical bills, etc. Please donate what you can and share so that we may reach others with their story.

Trees remain in their neighborhood threatening to fall and damage other houses and risk lives. The county had been contacted to safely remove the trees prior to the incident. Please take the time to sign and share the petition that is circulating to constrain the county to remove them now that there is evidence they are an imminent threat!
