This is Birgit and Erik Landowne from Blue Heron Farm in Lodi NY
We are a small certified organic Familie Farm in the Fingerlakes area by lake Seneca NY in our second year.
Last year we got badly flooded twice in one week and we thought it was bad, when we good flooded last Monday we could not believe how bad it could get.
Getting 9 inches of rain in 12 hours was to much to handle and we are experiencing the results of it.
We lost a lot of our crops that were completely under water like Zucchini Cucumbers Tomtoes Eggplants and most of our seedtrays newly seeded for fall crops got washed away .
Two of our greenhouses got damaged and the worse is our main road to the fields got washed out 6 food deep.
Lodi was declared state of emergency by Governor Andrew Cuomo and Lodi point park is a mess .
Not only do we need to fix existing damage but we also need to purchase culverts that can handle the tremendes rainwater that seems to get more and more with our environmental Desasters.
Talking to the previous owner of Blue Heron Farm we learned that they got flooded 3 times in 30 years but never that hard, being in our second year here at Blue Heron Farm and already being flooded three times makes us feel that if we do not prevent further flooding we do not know how we can sustain in the future.
Please help us fund some money as little or as much as you can so we can start rebuilding and take action to prevent further devastation.
