Short Film: FAMILIAR CONTEMPT
Donation protected
UPDATE: We have finished shooting and are raising a little extra money for post production and film festival submissions!
Hi everyone,
FAMILIAR CONTEMPT is the story anyone of us might live through one of these days, given the current political climate. Whether to the Right, Left, or anywhere else (save some anarchists), for the better part of the last century, the threat of an all out nuclear attack was an issue that very much concerned the average American household. But with the collapse of the USSR in 1989, an entire generation of Americans are now almost entirely unfamiliar with a threat that loomed so large for previous generations. That is, until one night, a family of five is blindsided by a notification warning them that they have just 15 minutes left to live.
Film students Ben Tuval (UMass Amherst) and Josh Kaster (Columbia) have assembled some of the top creative young minds at these acclaimed universities, as well as some fantastic professional talent, in co-directing FAMILIAR CONTEMPT. And everyone involved has all the faith in the world that this project, like their last, will end up nominated for an award or two––at least.
We would be eternally grateful for any donation that would aid in the production of FAMILIAR CONTEMPT. Everybody involved is a young and incredibly gifted artist in their own right, and with the resources we truly believe this film will help launch several promising careers into the industry. On top of, of course, making a film that should resonate deeply with a very wide audience.
Best,
