Cancer Treatment For Cheryl Wallace
Don protégé
My best friend, Cheryl Wallace, has been battling oral cancer for nearly a year. Her precious family has been dealt a series of blows in the past two years beginning with husband, Dan. He suffered a series of strokes approximately two years ago and, due to the severe disability he is left with, they have had to close down their third generation family business. Dan was the sole bread-winner so consequently they lost their home as well. One year later Cheryl was diagnosed with oral cancer that began on one side of her tongue and has now encompassed nearly all of her tongue. It has resulted in her losing the ability to speak and even eat. She has been reduced to liquid nourishment but due to the aggressive growth of this cancer she is barely able to swallow even those liquids. Her entire oral cavity and throat is so affected at this point that she is only able to sleep in an upright position and then only sporadically. The pain is excruciating, she has lost a tremendous amount of weight and is in fear of suffocation constantly due to the extreme swelling of her tongue. After being rushed to the ER, the surgeon immediately performed a tracheotomy so she wouldn't suffocate. The current scans revealed a tumor the size of a crab apple in the base of her throat and it has spread to the lymph nodes as well. The oncology team will begin an aggressive chemo/radiation program starting Monday Oct 13th 2014. We are in the process of qualifying for AHCCCS which will cover the major bills but we still need another $10,000 to pay for 3 month accommodations near Banner Gateway, expensive dietary needs, and a part time caregiver for the next few months. This cancer is incredibly painful and it is heartbreaking for those of us who know and love her to see her suffer so horribly. Cheryl is a sweet, amazing, loving and Godly woman who is dedicated to her family and God above all else. Her five children and twelve grandchildren (and another due any moment!), her extended family and friends are the center of her universe, she is a much-needed icon in her church and loved by so many. She has a giving and selfless nature, a blessing and we are asking that you please prayerfully consider her predicament and if it's in your heart and means to help it would be so very much appreciated. God bless you and thank you for just taking the time to read this. Please share this with as many as possible, time is short.
