In April 2023, our 1-year old niece, Alette, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma (a type of childhood cancer). Neuroblastoma is typically found in infants and toddlers, and is one of the more under-researched childhood cancers.

The last four rounds of chemo showed no change in the tumour, so the oncology team decided surgery would be the next step in treatment. She underwent abdominal surgery in mid March to remove as much of the tumour as they safely could.

As she recovers from surgery, they are waiting to find out how much of the cancer remains, and what happens next. The past year has caused financial strain and many adjustments for their family as they support their daughter through this, such as losing employment, selling their house and moving, and continuing to make regular trips into Winnipeg. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
