Randy’s Story

My brother Randy has always been the heart and soul of his family and community. Growing up in our parents’ sign-making shop, he discovered a passion for creativity and entrepreneurship that he carried through adulthood. Together with his wife, Tonya, they built a thriving business in the RDU, NC area that has been a local cornerstone for decades. For 25 years, they have shared not only a marriage but a partnership in life, business, and raising their wonderful son, Landon.

A Devastating Diagnosis

On August 14, everything changed in an instant. Randy sought medical help for what we thought was a simple swallowing issue and a stomach virus. But after countless appointments and urgent tests, we received the unthinkable news: Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma Necrosis-Esophageal Cancer. The cancer had already spread aggressively, causing nine brain lesions, tumors invading the protective membrane of his spinal cord, affected lymph nodes, and a liver overwhelmed with more than 100 metastatic tumors.

The Fight for Life

Randy’s medical journey has been relentless. Radiation immediately started to address the swelling and lesions in his brain. Despite these efforts, his liver tumors continued to grow, leading to jaundice and more pain. On September 4, Randy was hospitalized to begin emergency chemotherapy in hopes of slowing the cancer’s relentless spread. Every day, he faces debilitating pain and fatigue. The treatments are his only hope, but they come with overwhelming medical costs, frequent travel to specialized centers, and the need for in-home care.
