Everything SUCKS! Emergency support for Nevàn and his mom

Hey, my name is Nevàn. I struggle with admitting when I need to lean on others for help, but I’m getting better at it, and this is a huge ask.

Before I start: If we exceed $2000, those first $2000 will go directly to my mom, who paid that nasty bill in the photo.

Our cat, Bear (AKA Tarzan), became really sick over the span of one night. My mom noticed something was up, took him to the vet on May 5th, and got slammed with a $2000 bill for the next 2 nights of his care. She was told he was in critical condition due to urinary blockage. She had to pay this cost up front, the vet did not offer any payment plans and she was already aghast at the thought of losing Bear.

My mom and Bear have been living together since I moved out a year ago. He’s been a part of our family since a friend of mine in 7th grade said her cat had kittens and couldn’t keep them, and I brought home a kitten totally unexpected and lied and said I found him in a gutter. He’s 11 now, massive, and is the most chill cat ever to all who meet him. Other than seasonal skin allergies, he’s been a totally healthy guy until now.

I wiped out a huge credit card debt not long ago. I started a new job the week after leaving my last in March. It’s been good, but my hours have been cut pretty severely recently.

My mom and I can’t handle this bill alone.

Most importantly, my mom cannot go through possibly losing Bear AND have a major debt attached to it. Bear started sleeping in her bed after her mom/my grandma passed a couple years back. Last year, she was totally crushed when her parrotlet, Celexa (my mom preferred Lexie), unexpectedly passed away.

Losing Bear is something we are both not prepared to go through, and don’t even want to think about. My mom especially doesn’t deserve to go through this after so much loss.

As of today, May 7th, Bear was on the mend, and then became critical once again 15 minutes before I started typing this. We had a good prognosis, but now we don’t know what to expect. We don’t even know if there will be another bill yet. We’re both emotional, stressed out, and don’t know where to turn.

This fund was created first and foremost to compensate for the vet bill. My mom has been the vet correspondence, and these expenses are the first priority. Anything past the cost of the initial bill will be applied to any more medical expenses that could incur, no matter what happens. Anything left over those amounts will go towards supplementing my lost income, at the tail end of donations.
