Assistance For Evan Quaschnik

Donation protected
Hello there, So, as a few of you know, our family is visiting my mom in Oahu for her wedding on New Years Eve. Well, Evan had a different idea of how we’d spend New Years Eve and we’ve been at The Queens Medical Center in Honolulu since midday New Years Eve. Evan sustained a broken C6 and C7 vertebrae in a boogie boarding accident around 1:15pm and was transported to the Trauma Unit. Luckily for us, we were in the same island as the Pacific’s best trauma center, so he was wheeled directly from the ambulance to a waiting trauma room. When we arrived, he had movement in his arms, and feeling in his legs. After an MRI and CAT scans, it was found that the broken pieces of vertebrae were pressed against his spinal cord, causing the mobility issues in his legs and feet. He’s had two surgeries so far to fix the damage to his spine. The two shattered vertebrae were removed, and replaced with titanium ones last evening. The morning of the 1st, he had another surgery to secure everything in place so he can start the healing process. He’s basically a robot now, which is pretty neat. He still has a breathing tube in, and we’re hopeful that he’ll be able to have it removed this evening. The surgeon feels the surgeries have gone really well, and they were able to see some great nerve function during the surgery. It’s going to be a pretty long road to recovery for him, we will continue to update his condition as things progress. As you can imagine, a stay in the Neurological ICU is really expensive, and as much as it feels like time is standing still real life things like Evans Mortgage, hotel stays for the family, food etc will all start to add up, so any assistance is certainly appreciated. TL:DR- Evan broke his neck, we’re still in the hospital. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. Thank you all for your support.
