El pasado mes de Diciembre a nuestra amiga Nicole se le fue diagnosticado Cáncer de mama, en una etapa bastante avanzada, Nicole es una mujer de 28 años por lo que el cáncer no dio espera a ser intervenido de una manera menos invasiva, (Dicen que entre más joven eres, las enfermedad es más agresiva) y esta vez no fue la excepción.
A principios del mes de Diciembre, el tumor que se le había encontrado a Nicole tenía un tamaño de un balín o esfera, pero finalizando diciembre su tAmaño había aumentado considerablemente unos milímetros en menos de un mes, por lo que Nicole tuvo que ser intervenida con quimioterapia, tan pronto como se pudo!
Durante el proceso priori, estuvo sometida a muchos exámenes como Mamografía, ultrasonido, Breast biopsy, exámenes de sangre y entre otros exámenes, que llevó a cabo con una doctora especialista Cindy Mak y su GP Magaly Barrera que ha estado pendiente desde el comienzo de este diagnóstico. Una vez se inició el tratamiento pocos días antes de iniciar las quimioterapias Nicole tuvo que hacerse más exámenes para corroborar que estuviera lista para su primera quimioterapia y para también descartar que su cancer No se había extendido a otras partes del cuerpo, como PET-CT-SCAN (que costo 1500 dolares y que hasta el día de hoy el seguro ha evitado pagarle), Gated Cardiac Ble, otro ultrasonido, algunas ecografías, también a insertion of Porthcath y otros exámenes de sangre antes de su primera quimio.
Las quimioterapias las empezó el pasado Viernes 17 de Enero en el centro del tratamiento del cáncer Chris O´Brien Lifehouse aquí en Sydney, Australia. Gracias a la ayuda de sus familiares en Chile, logró que su mamita viajara desde el otro lado del mundo para estar con ella en este proceso, cabe decir que Nicole también ha contado con el gran apoyo de su compañero de vida, Juan quien ha estado al tanto de todo su proceso hasta ahora.
El tratamiento contra el cáncer que ahora enfrenta Nicole, está dividido en 2 ciclos, según su oncólogo Dr Sanjeev Kumar, la primera parte dura 8 semanas, en la que dado la agresividad de su cáncer, se le administra la más alta dosis. La segunda parte dura 12 semanas, donde se tendrá en cuenta el progreso y la respuesta de Nicole al tratamiento, finalizará con la cirugía y la reconstrucción, Cirugia que esta programada para realizarse a mediados del mes de junio del presente año la cual tiene un valor aproximado de 6000 más gastos de hospitalizacion y anestesistas, gastos que no cubre el seguro pero que con confianza, lograremos suplir con la ayuda de todos, porque confió en que logremos esta meta.
Para todo lo anterior es importante reconocer que el seguro, le cubre las quimioterapias y le ha regresado cierto dinero, sin embargo no le cubre una importante Inyección que debe aplicarse 24 horas después de cada quimio, (Injection to stimulate the growth of new white blood cells) la cual tiene un costo de 500 dólares, como ya saben toda esta situación afecta de una u otra manera a la economía de Nico y su familia.
Quienes conocen a Nicole saben que es una mujer maravillosa, inteligente, ama la naturaleza, es aventurera, tranquila, amable, responsable con sus cosas, tiene un buen sentido del humor y más que nada es una buena persona, para mi es una chilena de corazón!!!
Ciertamente el que ella esté pasando por esta situación no ha sido fácil para quienes la queremos mucho, a pesar de todo es importante resaltar que Nicole está tranquila, con buen ánimo, manteniéndose muy positiva. 
Por todo lo anterior es que hoy estamos haciendo esta campaña #SupportNico para recolectar algo de dinero y así ayudar con gastos que tiene y que se aproximan.

Last December our friend Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer in a very advanced stage.
Nicole is 28 years old woman, so cancer didn’t wait to intervened in the less invasive way. They say when the younger you are the more aggressive it is and This is not an exception.
At the beginning of December, the tumor that had been found to Nicole had a size of ball or sphere, but by the end of December its size had increased considerably a few mm in less than a month, so Nicole had to be the avenue with Chemotherapy, as soon as it could!
Before the chemotherapy process began, She done many tests such as mammograms, ultra sounds, breast biopsy, blood tests, PET-CT-SCAN ( which cost $1500 and until today insurance refusing to cover) Gated Cardiac Ble, ultrasound and also an insertion of Porthcath with guidance of a doctor named Cindy Mak just to make sure Nicole is ready for the chemotherapy and cancer hasn’t spread to the other parts of the body.
Chemotherapy began on Friday, January 17 at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse cancer treatment center here in Sydney, Australia. Thanks to the help of her relatives in Chile, she managed to get her mother to travel from the other side of the world to be with her in this process, it should be said that Nicole has also had the great support of her life partner, Juan who has been aware of your entire process so far.
The cancer treatment is divided into 2 parts. According to her oncologist Dr Sanjeev Kumar, the first part lasts 8 weeks, in which the highest dose will injected due to aggressiveness of her cancer. The second part lasts 12 weeks, where Nicole's progress and response to the treatment will be taken into account and then will be following with the surgery and restructuring of the mammary gland. Surgery that is scheduled to take place in the middle of June of this year which has an approximate value of 6000 plus hospitalization and anesthesiologist expenses, expenses that insurance does not cover but that with confidence, we will be able to supply with everyone's help, because I hope we achieve this goal.
For all of the above, it is important to recognize that the insurance covers chemotherapy and has returned some money, however it does not cover an important injection that should be applied 24 hours after each chemo, (Injection to stimulate the growth of new white blood cells) which has a cost of 500 dollars, as you know all this situation affects in one way or another the economy of Nico and her family.
Those who know Nicole know that she is a wonderful, intelligent woman, loves nature, very adventurous, calm, kind, responsible with everything she does, has a great sense of humor and more than anything she is a good person with a big heart.
Certainly that she is going through this situation, has not been easy for those who love her very much, but despite everything it is important to highlight that Nicole is staying calm, with the positive mind and hopes.
