My sister, Erica Hollin, has recently been given a challenge that isn't easy. Very recently, we found out that Erica will be battling lung cancer. We are very proactive and ready to get her set up for success in all the different categories and phases this stumbling block is about to present in her life. 

About 6-8 months ago, Erica started vomiting daily. She went to the doctor multiple times and they were saying it was anxiety and depression from losing our dad recently (to lung cancer). Then, Erica started losing weight rapidly with no cause. 

Our family became very concerned and mom convinced Erica to go to the Doctor. After blood work, cat scans, and other various tests, we were given this news of the "C" word. Several years ago, Erica had a kidney removed due to cancer and the doctors were confident they removed all of it. But, it has spread to both lungs. 

Erica's two daughters live here, one just graduated high school while the other is a junior in high school. Her son will be making frequent travels back and forth to visit with the help of their dad, as he finishes school there. 

The doctor has informed Erica that working is not the best plan for her right now due to her illness, severity/amount of the cancer, and the treatments she will soon encounter. So, she will lose her income immediately. Housing arrangements will change immediately to accommodate her needs. We see the oncologist today for an immediate plan of action and I will update frequently to keep everyone informed.

Although we still have a lot of unknowns, I knew we needed to start getting her set up for success now. When a tragic event happens, finances should be the least of anyone's worries. Erica is in the best place possible, given the circumstances. Our family is a woven basket that is unbreakable. We have been through many trials, especially just losing our dad unexpectedly. This has rocked our family and it's just the beginning of a long journey. But, we have been told that the bond between my mom, two sisters, and I is unreal, unexplainable, and sought for. I have no doubt that together, this is just another obstacle that will be conquered. Like always, God never fails us even when we fail Him daily. We are so undeserving of his everlasting love but so fortunate to have the assurance only He can provide.
