The week before Thanksgiving 2024, I felt a lump in my right breast. Several scans and two biopsies later, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on December 11th - two tumors, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 3.

I have a double mastectomy scheduled for January 3, 2025. The next steps are still to be determined by what they find during surgery. Treatment will depend on if the cancer has spread/any lymph node involvement, pathology report of the tumors after they’ve been removed, and my oncotype score. We will know this information 2-3 weeks post-surgery, and that will determine whether I need chemo and/or radiation. If not, the best case scenario post-surgery will be 7 to 10 years of endocrine therapy.
