Ephraim's journey back to home to Andover

Don protégé
This is Evelyn Maina and I am Ephraim's older sister. I am a freshman at UMASS Amherst, My sister, Tabitha, attends Andover high school, and my brother Ephraim goes to West Elementary. My Family and I are ethnically from Kenya, but Andover has been our home for four years now.

On December 13th, 2018 Ephraim suffered from an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) in his brain, and he was immediately rushed to Boston Children's Hospital. This was unforeseen as he attended school normally that day but was later dismissed for what became a life or death situation.

An Arteriovenous Malformation in the brain occurs due to an abnormal connection between the arteries and veins. If it is not detected immediately, the malformed connection bursts causing bleeding which then leads to increased intercranial pressure.  Patients who usually experience this, rarely survive and Ephraim's survival was by the grace of God.

After being in the ICU for 3 and a half weeks, and intermediate care for 1 week, Ephraim was discharged to Franciscan Children's Rehab Center where he will currently reside until recovery. At this moment, the only source of income is coming in from my father, due to my mother's temporary unemployment so as to care for my brother, and all donations will support our family during this difficult time. It would also greatly help with Ephraim's current and future expenses.

Thank you for reading this and for your possible donation: we greatly appreciate it!
