The National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) provides an opportunity for high achieving high school students to travel and participate in various leadership programs that cater to different fields/industries such as medicine, government, and film.
My name is Zoe, and I am a sophomore in high school. I have been selected/invited to attend the International Diplomacy/Affairs program the NSLC offers. Throughout my life, I have always been extremely interested in cultures, languages, and the inner workings of countries worldwide.
This particular leadership conference takes place at the prestigious universities of Georgetown in D.C and Columbia in New York City. This also includes visits to historic monuments, the United Nations, and various international embassies. It will broaden my understanding of global issues and matters, through participation in various simulations where you assume the role of a diplomat, and create a potential solution to very real world problems.
Upon completing the program, you receive a letter of recommendation and college credit. You also gain the experience of a lifetime, along with a collection of leadership and communication skills.
It would be incredible to dip my toes into the pond of international diplomacy, as I am just a few short years from completing my education and entering the workforce. During this time, I am exploring my passion and interests as I begin to make decisions regarding possible majors and my future career, perhaps in the U.S State Department.
Unfortunately, this experience is not free. I need to raise $5000 over the next 6 months to be able to afford this amazing opportunity. This covers the tuition and travel costs. With your help, I think I can get there! Thank you so much! :)
