My name is Kitty, and I am ironically fundraising for my cat Lily.

Update as of October 28th, 2025: The doctors are now treating Lily for an autoimmune disease. She is still unable to walk on her own and is still having difficulty eating but they are optimistic this new treatment will help. She is still in 24 hour care at the hospital but I am hopeful she will be able to come home soon. (I will continue to post updates when possible!)

Why I am fundraising:

After coming home from work on Monday, October 20th 2025 , I noticed Lily was behaving strangely. She was laying on her bed meowing and when she saw me arrive she attempted to get up and walk towards me. After a few unexpectedly wobbly steps she collapsed onto the ground, crying out in pain. With some luck and after many tears, I was able to get her into a late-night emergency animal hospital where she was stabilized and stayed the night. After being transferred to a second hospital the following morning, and after a vast array of tests (some of which are shown below) and 5 nights in hospital, Lily is still under the care of the wonderful doctors and technicians at the hospital she was transferred to.

Despite working two jobs currently, I decided to start fundraising as, after emptying my bank accounts of what little money I had (I am an unfunded PhD Student) I am looking at currently $20,000 in debt, with more bills anticipated in the near future.

As an abuse survivor, a person in-recovery, a member of the LGBTQ2S* and as a person who has found it incredibly difficult to make friends in real life Lily has been the greatest companion, best friend, protector, daughter, mother, sister and more I could have ever asked for. It is difficult to truly put into words how much Lily has meant to me over our years together. She in many ways, saved my own life.

I am currently asking financial support for two reasons:

1. The first and foremost is to assist with the current mass of debt I am facing and to also ensure any subsequent medical and care related costs can be covered. (Accounting for over 90% of funds I am hoping to raise)

2. The second reason is that as I have currently spent all of my savings on her medical bills thus far, I myself have no financial stability and am what some would describe as a vulnerable person and thus having some support would be of insurmountable importance to me -in short funds to allow me to temporarily support myself as all of my income has gone and is going towards these bills. (Accounting for less than 10% of the funds I am hoping to raise).
