This is time sensitive! Thank you for reading this. We are so grateful for your help.
Our beautiful rural Cornville valley in Northern Arizona - home to the famed Oak Creek green belt and desert landscapes - is about to be desecrated and environmentally harmed by a poorly planned and careless roll out of macro cellular towers and likely micro towers to follow that was not announced to the residents by Yavapai County planners or our Valley's volunteer community association, who endorsed it without public hearing. We in the larger community have been quickly organizing a robust opposition under the group "Verde Valley for Responsible Safer Technology (VVRST)." Look us up on Facebook!
Your generous donations will help an emergency legal fund. We have found an expert lawyer firm, Campanelli & Associates, that can stop our County planners and zoners from approving a now submitted permit application for our Valley's first 100 ft cell tower that is so poorly placed and conceived that it will:
- Pave the way for MORE TOWERS to serve the community properly -- half of the radius of this tower would be wasted on vacant national forest land! NOTE: Telecom site developers make money in perpetuity monthly per cell tower they build;
- UGLIFY the now beautiful descent into our gorgeous valley and spray drivers with the highest radiation plume coming off the tower at 64 and 100 ft; see pictures above.
- Cause a DROP in property values for the many homes within 1/2 of mile of the tower in this dense and socio-economically diverse residential area; several on the mesa sides would lose their views of the valley completely and also be in the high radiation beam splatter;
- EXPOSE to more radiation than other possible placements the mesa cliffs on one side and the as yet pristine wildlife riparian corridor of Oak Creek on the other, whose old growth cottonwoods and sycamores trees are homes to nesting hawks, eagles, herons and owls, wild bees and dragonflies, and a pit stop for migrating birds.
We can't by law say no to cell towers coming to our Valley nor can we object on health grounds but we can say no to bad cell tower placements that irresponsibly destroy our quality of life, property values and put at risk our wildlife and scenic beauty, when other possible placements would not.
These are the legal rights that the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the Federal Government, as well as the Constitution of Arizona, preserves for residents, but local municipalities must enact them to protect the peoples and lands under their care and stewardship. Our Yavapai County planners and zoners are failing us in this regard and Verde Valley for Responsible Safer Technology has organized to stop them from irrevocably damaging our rural haven with this first tower proposed placement.
Thank you for giving us the legal muscle we need to protect our way of life and the wildlife sanctuary corridor of Oak Creek. We are truly grateful. You can follow our progress by joining our Facebook Forum, Verde Valley for Responsible Safer Technology (VVRST). Thank you, thank you, thank you.
NOTE: Any unspent monies from this fund will be donated to one of Cornville's oldest non-profit Runnin' W Wildlife, a native species and bird rescue that would be not 100 feet from the base of this cell tower if we allow it to go up. Bill Harvey has been saving injured wildlife and birds, large and small, for decades now. See his website below.
