Hello everyone, my name is Carina Wessmann and I am writing to you from Mainz, Germany.
I am asking for help for the family of Yara Saber Arafat in Gaza. Her family and I have gotten to know each other through social media. Yara and I are the same age, both university students and yet she was denied the future she’s been working so hard towards.
This is a desperate plea for a desperate situation. Yara and her son (seen in the picture) have lost their home and are in critical need.

A message from Yara Arafat:
My name is Yara Arafat, my husband Abu Ibrahim and we are reaching out with a humble request for help on behalf of my family.
Nearly three years ago, our lives changed forever when our home in Gaza was destroyed during the ongoing war. The house that once provided us with safety, comfort, and precious memories was reduced to rubble. At the same time, my husband, Abu Ibrahim, lost his job, leaving us without both a home and a source of income.
Since then, we have been displaced nearly ten times, moving from one place to another in search of safety. Today, we live in a tent alongside my elderly parents, my only brother, and his wife. What was supposed to be a temporary shelter has become our reality for almost three years.
Life in a tent is extremely difficult. We struggle daily to obtain food, clean drinking water, medicine, clothing, and other basic necessities. The tent offers little protection from the freezing cold of winter, the unbearable heat of summer, insects, and harsh weather conditions.
Our greatest concern is the health and well-being of our family. The lack of clean water, sanitation, and adequate medical care has led to ongoing illnesses and painful skin infections. Children and elderly family members are particularly vulnerable, and the conditions continue to worsen with each passing day.
My elderly parents suffer from illness and exhaustion, while our young son, Ibrahim, is growing up without the stability, safety, and childhood every child deserves. Watching him endure these hardships breaks our hearts.
For nearly three years, we have done everything possible to survive with dignity. We are not asking for luxury. We are asking for the opportunity to provide our family with the most basic human needs: food, medical care, clean water, shelter, and hope.
Your donation, no matter how small, can make a real difference. It can help us purchase food, medicine, clean water, clothing, and essential supplies. Most importantly, it can give our family hope during one of the most difficult periods of our lives.
We are not asking for pity. We are asking for compassion, humanity, and a chance to survive with dignity.
