Hi folx, my name is Ellie Mae!

I’m eight years old, the bestest girl, a professional snoozer, and a part-time zoom-arounder. A few days ago I hurt my back leg playing in the backyard. One second I was minding my own good girl business, then POP and YELP! The nice folks at Charlottetown Vet Clinic took X-rays (after giving me a little nap) and said I ruptured my cranial cruciate ligament. I need surgery at the Atlantic Vet College to fix it, and it’s going to cost between $7,000 and $8,000, which is a whole lotta bully sticks!

Luckily my friend Jenn works at the AVC, so I already know they’re good peoples. Until then, I can’t use stairs for six weeks before surgery and six weeks after, which I am very cross about. I used to be terrified of stairs when I first came to PEI from Georgia back in 2019, but I got brave! Now I love them! So I think it’s rude that I have to be carried. And for the record, I hate being carried.

I work with my mom at PEIRSAC, where everyone knows I’m the bestest thing in the office. I’ll miss my friends while I’m healing, especially Kristine, the treat lady. When I’m back, I expect double treat tax, thank you very much. I’m also accepting 24-hour treat drop-offs before surgery, during surgery ,and then during recovery.

I’m super gentle with tiny humans, even toddlers, and people who are scared of dogs usually end up loving me. Guess I’ve got superpowers. And the best side-eye in town. My Aunty Cam and Buncle Joce say I’m looking into the past and the future, but really, I just know things.

We don’t like asking for help, but gosh, it would mean a lot. I’m so grateful for anything folks can do; donating, sharing my story, or sending good thoughts and scritches my way.

Anything extra that doesn’t go toward my vet bills will be donated to the PEI Humane Society, so more good doggos can get the care they need too.

Thanks for helping me get back on all four paws.
Warmly & Radically (and a perfectly timed side-eye),
Ellie Mae ྀིྀི. ྀིྀི. ྀིྀི.
