Eli Klein recovery fund!

 

 

Hello, Friends and Family of Eli Klein,

 

My name is Liv Lunde and I am organizing this fundraiser for Eli, on behalf of his family. It is with great sadness, but a lot of hope, that we are asking for your generosity today.

 

On Friday, May 13th Eli was in a serious bike accident that fractured his skull. Unfortunately, while under medical care, he had a seizure followed by complications that led to emergency and life saving brain surgery the next day.

 

Currently, Eli remains in the ICU on a ventilator. He has shown signs of awareness and responsiveness. The wonderful team at Sunnybrook Hospital are ensuring that he is receiving the best care possible through his recovery. His doctors have told us we should expect his recovery to take up to a year.

 

During this time Eli will not be able to work. Since he works in the arts industry without long term disability benefits, he will need our help in order to access care and financial support for himself and his two sons.

 

Throughout his life, Eli has relentlessly supported so many people, bands, organizations, and initiatives across this country. If you are reading this, there is a high likelihood that you have worked together in some capacity, sweat it out on the dance floor, protested for a good cause, broke bread at a holiday dinner, shared a drink backstage at a festival, rallied towards a better future for the LGBTQ2S+ community, or simply sat and discussed the power of people coming together around a common cause when it comes to making all those things possible. Eli enthusiastically participated in those moments because that’s how he approaches life. He is dedicated and loyal to the people he loves, the causes he loves, the communities he loves, and the music he loves. The outpouring of support so far is a testament to the impact that he has made in so many people’s lives.

 

We are asking now, in his greatest moment of need, that we all pull together to make his recovery as stress-free as possible, and allow him to focus on his healing journey so he can get back to those festivals, dancefloors, and holiday dinners with all of us. But more importantly, so that he can get back to being the doting father to the lights of his life, his boys, Kieran and Arlo.

 

All money raised during this campaign will be spent directly on everyday expenses (rent, food…etc) for him and his boys and any medical costs that are not covered under public health.
