Hello everyone,

My name is John and I am making this fundraiser on behalf of Gloria De La Cruz who, like thousands of other senior citizens in Canada, unfortunately fell victim to a scam that robbed her of her life's savings.

I have known Gloria since I was 3 years old when she helped raised me, and I and many others can tell you first hand Gloria is truly an angel and the last person who deserves to have something like this happen to her. Gloria is a loving and devoted person who cares deeply for her daughter Grace and would offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Her friends and family know that she is extremely caring and thoughtful: I am now 28 and I can tell you that over the years, Gloria has never forgotten to give me a call to wish me a Merry Christmas or a Happy Birthday.

Gloria worked tirelessly through her career to raise me and to help care for the elderly and the sick. She did all of this to give her and her daughter a comfortable life. Now in her 70s, instead of enjoying a well earned retirement after a life of very hard work, Gloria is devastated and contemplating all the ramifications that come with this situation, including likely having to go back to work. This is incredibly disheartening, and I find it truly sad and disgusting that scammers preyed on Gloria's good nature. She is never one to rely on the charity of others if it can be avoided and much prefers to be the one to offer a helping hand, but sadly here we are.

I am hoping to raise as much money as possible to help Gloria get back on her feet. Gloria understands that her savings are gone, but I'm hoping to raise some funds to at least help her stabilize her finances over the next few months as she navigates these incredibly challenging circumstances (while her daughter Grace has been in hospital, no less). I hope you can appreciate that the damage done here is immeasurable, and but any amount will help.
