Eileen, trapped in her own home!
Donativo protegido
Hi, my name is Lynn and I am fundraising to help a very special lady who has been confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
Eileen Buttriss is well-known in the local community for her tireless fundraising and support for local schools and charities. She has devoted her life to helping others but now it’s her turn and she needs your help.
Eileen has suffered from osteoarthritis and osteoporosis from a relatively young age. She has undergone numerous operations on her knees and legs and, after multiple falls, has suffered irreparable damage to her right leg. She will never walk again and her specialist surgeon at Wrightington Hospital is considering amputating her leg.
This prognosis has had a devastating impact on Eileen’s life but she is the eternal optimist and is determined to battle on with a smile on her face; still helping others and continuing to support the many local charitable organisations that are so dear to her heart.
However, daily life has become impossible for Eileen. She struggles to push herself around in her wheelchair as she has severe osteoarthritis in her shoulder and elbow. She has lost her independence and she can’t even sit out in her back garden and enjoy the sunshine! She has become a prisoner in her own home!
Eileen needs your help. She needs an electric wheelchair so that she can get about without putting pressure on her damaged shoulder and elbow. She needs her kitchen and bathroom to be modified so that she can maintain her independence and, most importantly, she needs a ramp to be built so that she can get out of her house and enjoy her garden.
Eileen has applied for a grant from the local authority which would help to modify her house. Age Concern has also been supporting her. However, the process is painfully slow. If Eileen meets the criteria for a wheelchair, she has been told there is a three year waiting list. Eileen can’t wait that long; she needs an electric wheelchair and ramp now!
Your donations can give Eileen the quality of life she deserves. She has spent her life helping others, now it’s our turn to help her. Any small donation will be greatly appreciated.
