Eddie Mays Fundraiser
Don protégé
On Jan 18th we received the devastating news that Eddie has lung cancer. Stage 4.
Eddie Mays has been active, hardworking, and energetic his entire life. He loves working on electronics, inventing things, and spending time with his girlfriend and her children. He is the type of guy that never sits still.
That is, until two weeks ago. What we thought was the common cold, we were told was bronchitis. Then a more serious infection. We spent days trying to treat the sickness — primarily trouble breathing — with antibiotics from the doctor, cold medicine, tissues, and chicken noodle soup. We couldn’t understand why he wasn’t getting better.
Then, on Jan 18th, we received Eddie's diagnosis.
Immediately we felt our world changing. The following sleepless nights and stressful days have all revolved around finding him care as quickly as possible. On Jan 20th he was admitted to a hospital about 90 minutes from home where he began treatment under two wonderful and experienced oncologists and their team. The trouble is that once they release him from the hospital, which could be as early as Monday Jan 27, we will have to find our own housing, transportation, and of course cover meal costs to get him to and from the treatment center for 8 weeks of treatment, with no savings and no source of income. We don't know how we're going to do it.
If you know Eddie, you know he is always the first one to lend a helping hand to friends and family when in need. But now it's Eddie who is in need, and we're asking for your help to save him and to keep our household afloat during this scary and difficult time. Shares or contributions at any level are so much appreciated.
