Estella Byrd Whitman Wellness and Community Resource Center (EBWW) is a 501(c)(3) a non-profit agency, established to be a Medical and Dental Clinic for the community of North West Ocala (the neighborhood is referred to as just West Ocala), and a Wellness Center for the larger Ocala area. This includes providing care for low income citizens and a range of other services for the purpose of improving the quality of their lives so that they can (and will) become self-sufficient, without regard to health insurance status or ability to pay for care in an area which has a high level of unemployment and the lowest household income in all of Ocala.
West Ocala Residents often use the Emergency Rooms at our local hospitals for their Primary Care. The presence of a neighborhood medical center in the area will allow pedestrian and non-motorized access to care and, at the same time relieve the hospitals of many non-emergent and routine cases.
Prior to his death in December 2013 Mr. Adams pushed diligently and gracefully for a clinic in West Ocala and the City embraced his efforts. A triple wide modular was generously donated by a local golfing community and a $15,000.00 donation was received from a local benefactor to assist in moving the modular to the center site. The founders, Arthur and Carolyn Adams donated land at the rate of $1.00 per year for 60 years. Arthur unfortunately passed away last December. His wife, Carolyn, has vowed to make his dream become a reality.
Our goal is to get the Center fully operational by late 2018. While more work still has to be done to achieve this goal, your generous donations are needed.
