Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (Arabic: إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ) is a part of a verse from the Qur'an which translates to "We belong to Allah (God) and to Him we shall return."
As many of you know we recently lost our beloved Dad, Iftikhar Ahmad Malik on February 15, the day of his 75th birthday. He was a very driven and motivated individual who defined success not by the monetary value but by a moral compass, and that is the legacy he has left behind for his family. A legacy that we can all be very proud of.
He became an orphan at the age of 3 when his father fell victim to a cholera outbreak in Pakistan. Survived by 7 kids and an uneducated spouse, the family struggled to make ends meet. However, our grandmother recognized the value of education and made sure that all of her kids attended school. Our dad used the ladder of education and hard work to not only make a better life for himself but set the stage for the next generation. Regardless of his countless accomplishments in life, he never did forget the struggles of his childhood. To that end, he held in his heart a very special place for orphans and went out of his way to always do what he could for the ones in need.
As part of the recognition of his amazing life, we are raising funds to continue to support the cause of his choice, and ask that you contribute whatever you can towards the Orphan Support Funds! A sadaqa jariya (a charity that continues).
All collected donations will be shared with Helping Hand for Relief and Development's Orphan Support Program, HHRD is a 501 (c) relief and development organization https://www.hhrd.org/osp/. Funds will be used for the following:
- Subsistence(monthly ration, clothes, hygiene kits);
- Education (includes school fee, books, school supplies, and uniforms);
- Health (includes medical checkups, immunization);
- Social upliftment (includes Extracurricular activities) last but not the least;
- Child Protection Rights (includes inheritance and family).
