Dwara Dwani: A New Children's Gamelan
Spende geschützt
Balinese culture has proven resilient in the era of mass tourism and globalization. But this takes the constant, hard work of providing every generation of Balinese children the opportunity to learn traditional arts. While they love their smart phones, the children of Tulikup village are eager to learn traditional music (gamelan) and dance (tari) and they have enthusiastically started their own arts club, Dwara Dwani, directed by the renowned musician Ida Bagus Madé Widnyana. Not as well-off as those villages on the tourist track, the children of Tulikup don't have a gamelan orchestra of their own, instead borrowing and renting used sets from neighboring villages. But now they have the opportunity to buy a used set of their own at a good price. They have saved $5000 and need only another $10,000 to purchase the set. With favorable exchange rates and this good deal, now is the time to help the children of Dwara Dwani create a sustainable arts program in their village! Donate now to support the sustainable future of Balinese traditional arts in Tulikup village.
