Donations In Memoriam for Ashley Pyle

For those unaware, Ashley Pyle passed on September the 5th at home, surrounded by her family. She lost her battle with cancer at the young age of 33. A memorial and celebration of her life was held in her honor the following Saturday.

As her husband, I have been asked many times a plethora of normal questions, including, most relevant to this page, "How can we help?" as well as a couple of questions about donations. If you are looking to donate to charity on her behalf, this is not the place. Please instead donate to the Kidney Foundation, or research an organization that works on cancer research or towards a cure. (And not a certain pink ribbon group, please message me if you have questions about where to donate.)

If you instead want to help financially, or want to donate something to the family, this is the place for that. While I cannot come straight out and ask for financial help, the truth is that there is a lot up in the air regarding future costs. We know that her hospice care is paid for. We are less sure the status of her hospital visits over the last several weeks, her cancer treatments, the house, and any court costs that may come up in regards to transferal of ownership of things like the house. Even if I was better at asking for financial assistance, its not like I have something where I can point to a number and say "this much will solve these problems", because these are things that will be coming over the next few weeks, not things with a bill in front of us.

I feel selfish typing this, posting this, etc. But I know that people have asked "How can we help?" with enough variations that the only way I haven't heard it is in a variety of other languages. I want no one to feel obligated to donate or help in this manner. That being said, a GoFundMe is the best way I can think of that people who want to help financially can, and that we can feel prepared for what is coming ahead without directly asking for money.
