My name is Jeff Aiken and I’m trying to raise funds for my brother-in-law’s wife, Sarah Kerttula and their children. They were involved in a fatal car accident on Easter night. They were on their way to St. George for spring break. They were between Cedar City and Leeds when their vehicle struck a deer and rolled over. It rolled multiple times, crossed over the median, and ended up on its side in the northbound lanes of I-15. Reino (my brother-in-law) pulled himself out of the vehicle and was attempting to get his daughter out of the vehicle when he was struck by another vehicle traveling north. Reino had to be airlifted to St. George Regional Hospital, while Sarah and the three kids had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. The whole family was in the hospital for two days recovering from lacerations, bruises, seat belt burns, broken limbs requiring surgery, and multiple other injuries. Reino lost his right leg below the knee and suffered severe internal injuries. He fought for two days before he finally succumbed to his wounds. Now, his family not only has to figure out how to carry on without him, they have to figure out how to cover all of the medical care costs, the funeral costs, and the cost of a car. Any funds raised will be used to cover these expenses and help the family get back on their feet. Here’s the link to the news story about the accident:
