Donations for Jason and Amy Kolb's Home

UPDATE: We are pleased to let you know that largely as a result of generous gifts from over 175 people, and some savings we were able to uncover along the way, we have met the fundraising need for the Kolb’s home. Of course, God’s faithfulness played the biggest role in this. Jason returned to Akron on Good Friday, and your gifts (and prayers) helped make all of the needed “phase 1” changes to their home. This included a lift for him to enter the home from the garage, widened doorways, a “wheelchair-friendly floor” and changes to the bathroom to accommodate a wheelchair (pictured below).

You can see some additional pictures of the updates and Jason's return home on the Kolb’s CaringBridge site here: Jason's Story.

Thank you!

Our friend, Jason Kolb, suffered a tragic ski accident on January 29, 2023, at 12:05PM. This is a life-changing event for the whole family (Jason, Amy, and their four children), and one they are using to further reflect Christ’s love and goodness. “His grace is sufficient” has been Jason’s inspiring battle cry.

Jason (and Amy) have begun rehab in Denver, an 8-10 week process that prepares them for a return to Akron in early April. Our hope is to make their transition home as seamless as possible, they will be returning to a different way of life.

One way we are helping is making their home wheelchair accessible. We have been working with an architect who specializes in this area (she has a child in a wheelchair herself), and a local builder/architect with whom we have a longstanding relationship. The goal with the changes is to allow Jason to not only move his way easily around the house, but to also be able to enjoy his favorite areas of his home (his office and back patio).

Anything you can give to help with this project is appreciated! Every dollar raised will go specifically to this. We are working to make his home ready for him upon his return.

The changes to the home include:
• Lift to enter the house from the garage
• Bathroom redesign: shower, tub, vanity
• New bed to accommodate Jason
• Ramp from the deck to the back patio
• Wheelchair-accessible kitchen sink and microwave
• Replacing carpet with wheelchair-friendly hard surface flooring
• Doors widened
