Craig fought a valiant and successful battle against cancer in 2018. Fortuitously, he met Kathy (his “One True Love”) in 2019 and they have been together ever since. Shortly after meeting, they joined forces and formed the duo known as “The Angel and The Outlaw” . . . entertaining folks throughout the state and beyond with their beautiful music. However, within weeks of Craig celebrating “6 years’cancer-free” it was discovered that a more aggressive cancer had invaded and is wreaking havoc throughout his body. Craig’s struggle will soon come to an end. Kathy has been by his side every moment caring for Craig, staying with him in the hospital and providing round-the-clock care when he returned home. The medical bills, living expenses and expenses involved with his departure are unrelenting and impossible to manage. Craig and Kathy are hard-working, independent, “we take care of ourselves” (and anyone within their realm) people! But, what follows now will be beyond Kathy’s ability to handle on her own. So, this request for your help to get Kathy through these next several months without Craig comes from those of us who know, admire, respect and love them. They would never ask.
To provide a little more insight into our amazing Craig Gurney --
It has been a long and winding road from Idaho farm boy … to Oklahoma Oilfield Roughneck … to Washington/Oregon Pedorthist … to Pacific Northwest Contractor/Handyman known as “Gurneyman” … to the artist creating whimsical, found-object, metal sculptures and garden art … to a lyrical poet extolling the joys, observations, adventures and lessons of a saddle tramp riding a steel pony… a motorcycle. His motorcycle poetry inspires everything from joy and happiness to a profound reverence. The final gifts that Craig has honed are those of a soulful singer and sweet companion to his Angel, Kathy.
Craig never has met a stranger, is quick to lend a helping hand to anyone he meets, always has a story to tell or a hug to share . . . and the most caring, sparkling blue eyes you’ve ever seen.
Our Outlaw is preparing to don his Wings.
