Vasilije is a cheerful, playful, and curious child. He was born a healthy baby, with no complications during pregnancy or delivery. His development was completely normal during the first year of life; however, when the time came for him to start walking, the first problems appeared.

First of all, he developed a wide gait, which made independent walking difficult and caused him to fall backward. In addition, other developmental challenges began to emerge, including delays in speech, motor skills, and understanding. Vasilije is now 4 years old but still has the abilities of a 2-year-old child and has not yet begun to speak. Over the years, he has undergone physical therapy as well as speech and developmental treatments, all of which require significant additional expenses at private centers.

Despite numerous tests, Vasilije still has no precise diagnosis. At his most recent check-up with a Russian orthopedic surgeon, shortened tendons and a deformity of the right foot were discovered, making surgery—at the family’s own expense—necessary.
