Pete’s Recovery Journey

Who is Pete Winiarski without his quick wit and contagious smile? The unfortunate answer to this question came suddenly on the morning of July 23rd when Pete suffered from a severe stroke that has severely impaired his cognition and ability to communicate. In his current state, he has motor function but limited cognitive function—this small amount of control is a promising indicator that with proper rehabilitation, the Pete that we know and love will return to us once again. Insurance has denied coverage for intensive, acute rehabilitation services, which Pete’s doctors feel would give him the best chance for recovery. As such, Pete’s recovery process will likely take longer than expected and it is unknown how much insurance will actually cover. This has placed a huge burden on his family. Pete and his loved ones are counting on their community to stand with them during these difficult times. Anything helps, we greatly appreciate all the support.
