This is Calvin he is my biggest baby! He turned 16 years old this summer! The day I got Calvin as a kitten was actually the day I found out I was pregnant with my son. He has been around for so much of my life! Calvin was even with my Dad when my Dad passed away. My family and friends adore him! He has been a great emotional support pet for anyone that’s met him. Calvin loves to curl up with his head on your lap and just purr and relax as long as you will let him ❤️
Sunday evening my family got home from Thanksgiving in Montana. I had a friend come by my house to make sure the cats had food and water while we were away, but he said Calvin was in my son’s room sleeping most of the time. So when we got home I was alarmed to see Calvin’s left side of his face swollen up very big and discharge come out of his left eye. I jumped for the cat carrier and took him straight to the emergency vet that’s open 24 hours. The vet gave Calvin antibiotics, pain meds, and electrolytes. they told me that more than likely it’s an abscess tooth. Unfortunately, they do not do dental work at that vet.
Now this morning, Calvin’s face swelling has gone down at least 50% of the way, and he actually got in bed with me and purred❤️
In Calvin’s 16 years he’s been a very healthy cat!
I am continuing to give him his meds, that the vet sent me home with , but they instructed me that I need to make an appointment somewhere that will do dental work.
His emergency visit Sunday night cost me $500, his second appointment was $83 today for the primary care vet exam. Tomorrow, December 3rd, he will be getting his tooth extracted! It is great news that recovery is on the horizon for my old baby <3
The procedure tomorrow will cost $1,400 for everything. (except the lost wages and tips because I have to take an unexpected day off work.)
I never do this, but I am asking for help! Calvin is my baby! With the holidays coming and me not working as much the financial strain of this vet procedure is very stressful.
I know I have lots of other animal lovers and especially cat lovers on here that could sympathize with this situation. I just want my baby Calvin to be back to health and happiness. ❤️ It is breaking my heart to see him in pain.
