Donate to Merissa's Medical and Family Needs

This is a story of my family that we would like to share to bring awareness of the safeties and dangers of enjoying ATVs.

Merissa and Cade were out having fun on their ATV with another couple around 2 a.m. on Sept 16, 2024.

They were out having fun in their ATV with friends when they slipped on the wet pavement, causing it to flip. My daughter was ejected from the ATV, finding herself pinned with the seatbelt, which broke her shoulder and severed her arm, causing her to bleed out. Merissa was rushed to the hospital as a level 1 trauma patient. She endured an 8-hour surgery that morning in attempts to save her arm, only to have it removed the next day. The tissue was dying and making my daughter sick, so she lost her right arm. She is expected to be in ICU for a minimum of 8 to 10 days before she can be moved to a regular hospital room. She is in extreme pain but remaining strong and in good spirits. She has had 3 surgeries in 2 days and is experiencing phantom pain in fingers that don't exist. We have high hopes that she will be a candidate for a prosthetic.

We are grateful that no one else was hurt and all passengers survived.

Forgiveness is an act of consciousness. As far as I'm concerned, he is forgiven. Cade has to live with the pain of regret, and that is time served because that regret is as permanent as my daughter's limb loss.

Merissa and Cade are high school sweethearts. They met at the young age of 17 and have been inseparable ever since. They adore each other and have 2 beautiful children together. They are a beautiful family filled with love and light. My daughter Merissa is a beautiful beam of sunshine in this world and touches the hearts of anyone that meets her. She loves helping others and making them smile and feel loved. She is the strongest person I know. She is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys the simple life, growing food and making her own holistic medicine, and just recently decided to start homeschooling her children this year. Merissa has shown incredible inner strength and has been an inspiration to so many in and outside of this hospital.

All donations will go to medical bills, personal bills, legal fees, and anything the kids may need.
