Donate to help the Valencia Family Roof
Spende geschützt
Hello everyone; my name is Katherine, and I am reaching out for help on behalf of my parents, Zoraida and Jose Valencia. My parents live in Florida and have been affected (just as many others) by Hurricane Ian. We are grateful that they are safe and have not had as much loss as others on the west coast of the State, but unfortunately, their roof was severely damaged and needs to be replaced. The roof was already in need of repairs prior to the hurricane, and the storm worsened its state. While we have been trying to set aside funds to repair it before the storm hit, the cost for replacement is much higher than anticipated. They need it replaced emergently or risk losing their home. Their homeowner’s insurance policy refused to cover the repairs/replacement previously, and they received a notice of insurance nonrenewal due to the age and damage of the house/roof. They cannot obtain new home-owners insurance until the roof is replaced, and the bank can take their home if they don't have a policy in place. My parents are 65 and 77 years old and are living on tight funds from Social Security retirement and disability. As you can imagine, this has been extremely heartbreaking for them as they have worked hard to provide for their family since coming to the United States from Colombia decades ago. They always give and help others and would give up any money or food they have if there were others in need. Over the years, both their health and financial status have deteriorated, and while my husband and I help as much as we can, they never ask us for anything even though they need the help. Those are the kind of people they are. We would appreciate any help restoring their home (my childhood home) to better living conditions. The cost of a new roof is $10,000, along with additional repairs needed. Please help us build this fund with a donation if you can afford to do so, and share this GoFundMe link with as many people as possible to help garner support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
