Juanita and her 11 year-old twins, JC and Jaliyah were in a devastating car accident on April 29th on their way to the kids' soccer game. Juanita took the brunt of the accident, breaking both legs in different places and breaking all of her ribs and pelvis. She came close to losing her life and was resuscitated by rescue workers twice at the scene of the accident. Luckily, her children escaped with minor broken bones. Juanita is finally stabilized and is at home recovering. She will not be able to walk for at least 3 months. She has an unbelievably difficult road ahead of her. Juanita is an extremely proud mother and is heartbroken that she will not be able to be as present for her children as she usually is.

Money cannot solve a broken heart or fix broken legs, but it can make life less stressful. The family car that fit all of 5 family members is totaled. The insurance company has reimbursed them for $2,000. This is barely enough for a down payment!

This is a self-sufficient family who is hesitant to ask for help and proud of always being able to provide for themselves. But, they are in a crisis that no one should ever be in. So, that is why I stepped in to encourage them and help them! I know they could benefit from our community’s generosity.
