Help Replace Aiden’s Kayak Slalom Boat
Hello, my name is Baz, and I’m fundraising to replace my eldest son Aiden’s slalom kayak.
Aiden is 13 and has been racing since he was 8. Slalom isn’t just his sport—it’s his passion. He competes at a high level in both C1 (canoe) and K1 (kayak)—a rare achievement requiring double the training, dedication, and equipment. He has steadily climbed the UK leagues from Division 4 to Division 1 in both disciplines and is now working toward the Regional Development Squad and England Talent Programme.
This summer, while traveling to training camp in France, our family had a frightening experience. During a rest stop, thieves tampered with the straps securing Aiden’s boats. In the rush to escape, one of his boats came loose on the motorway and was destroyed.
Aiden urgently needs a replacement to continue training and competing. Missing this opportunity could set back years of progress. Despite challenges—including a diagnosis on the autism spectrum—Aiden has shown extraordinary resilience and determination. He’s even won the club’s “least touches” award (fewest penalties in a season) two years running, an almost unheard-of achievement.
We want to give him the chance to keep chasing his dream: breaking into the Premier Division and, one day, the GB team. Any contribution, big or small, will help us get him back on the water.
Thank you for reading and for your support.
