Spende geschützt
Our beautiful Luna Bear is very very poorly. Those who know our family, know how Luna is not our pet, she is the centre of our family. She is only 4 years old and we are facing the most devastating time.
We noticed a change in Luna a couple of weeks ago when she started to refuse her food. Being the princess she is, we assumed she was getting bored so we changed her food…4 times in one week. Everything we gave her she would eat a small amount and then refuse again. The following days, we noticed she was sleeping all day and looking very sad. We tried to change her environment, thinking she just needed to get out and about to new places. Then, almost overnight, we noticed a drastic amount of weight loss. Her usual zoomies when we entered a room were replaced with her not even lifting her head and she was unable to keep up on her walks. This, for our bouncy pup, set off alarm bells and we took her straight to the vet.
She was given blood tests and scans which sadly showed a condition called Ascites. Ascites in dogs is a condition where fluid accumulates in the abdominal cavity, causing a swollen or distended belly. While not a disease itself, ascites is a symptom of an underlying medical condition, and can be a sign of various issues like heart disease, liver disease, kidney failure or cancer. Our vet is very very worried about her and they have told us to prepare for the worst which is breaking our hearts.
Luna has been referred to a specialist hospital in Bristol. There she will undergo more testing to find the root cause of this fluid in her tummy. We are hoping for an outcome where they can diagnose her symptoms and hopefully we can find a way to manage whatever condition it is she may have. Sadly, all of this is very costly. Far more than we can afford but we just cannot give up on our girl, she’s still so young and we need to give her the best possible chance we can. Our insurance only covers so much and after the scans, the testing and referral she’s already had, we have already by far exceeded that amount.
Putting this page out and asking for help is something we would not normally do, but we have come to realise, this isn’t for us, it’s for Luna. We will do anything we can to get some answers and make her comfortable however that may be. We have many friends and family who we know would want to help, even if you are unable to donate, just sharing this page for us.
Thank you xx
