Hi everyone! My mother Wendy went in for major back surgery on August 14, 2025 for a Posterior Cervical Spinal Fusion. Post surgery, she had unexpected complications where she had 2 brain bleeds. The Doctors still are uncertain of what caused this, or if it was an underlying health condition we knew nothing about. Her bleed was called an Intraparenchymal Hemorrhage. She has spent weeks in ICU in Richmond, VA under constant monitoring for increase of brain pressure using 2 EVD drains placed in her skull. Once those were removed her pressure increased and she was rushed into 2 back to back surgeries to place a VP Shunt (ventriculoperitoneal shunt) which is a drain tube placed in the ventricles of the brain that drain out and down into the abdominal area.
