Well-known hiker Nimblewill Nomad, "Sunny" to Weogufka locals, had a dream of opening a hostel along the Pinhoti Trail / Eastern Continental Trail. Lloyd and Tammy Caperton have graciously offered the rustic cabin that sits on their beautiful, wooded ranch in Weogufka, Alabama, to be turned into Southern Comfort Hiker Hostel. They are excited to serve hikers alongside Sunny, and Randy and LuAnne Anderson (Chuck Norris and Tigger).
The hostel cabin is complete and ready to host hikers! Our current projects are putting the finishing touches on a welcome center and putting plans together for cabins to host hiker friends. Sunny is calling it "the hiker trash old folks' home!" And we have renamed it Caperton Southern Comfort Ranch. The hostel is located at northbound mile 8 near the southern terminus of the Pinhoti Trail. It is a donation-based hostel just for hikers. We also offer donation-based shuttle service for small groups in our immediate area. We can arrange for shuttles to and from Birmingham as well. We are excited to provide a great service to hikers and help bring the Weogufka community together.
We are currently open to hikers on the Pinhoti Trail and Eastern Continental Trail. Any donation amount is appreciated, no matter how small. We have been approved for 501(c)(3) status as a nonprofit corporation. If you prefer to mail in your donation, message LuAnne Anderson for the address.
Thank you, and Happy Trails!
