Casey, 30 years old, badly burnt by exploding gas can in Alaska
On Thursday, November 7th, Casey was burnt by an exploding can of gasoline on their property in Haines, Alaska.
The heat from a fire ignited the gas fumes in the gas can and caused it to explode outwards over him, lighting the gasoline on fire.
When his fiancée heard a "whoosh" and saw a flash of light, she ran out to find him fully engulfed in flames from the mid-chest up.
His fiancée then smothered the fire out with her jacket. Casey was badly burnt with 2nd-degree partial thickness burns. She tried to call for help, but due to a winter storm, help did not arrive for 2 hours. She buried him in the snow, which saved his life. Freezing cold, badly burnt with over 20% of his body suffering damage, including his right eye and airways, Casey was only retrieved hours later by the Coast Guard, which flew him and his fiancée to Juneau, Alaska. There, he was transferred to a private life flight medical jet to get him out of Alaska and the winter storm beating down on Alaska and most of the Midwest and Canada, to the Burns Intensive Care Unit in Seattle's top hospital.
Without even a wallet, Casey is facing a long arduous road to recovery in the hospital and beyond, with no funds to cover any food, clothing, hotels, long flights and ferry rides, as well as the crippling medical expenses, back to their town of tiny Haines, Alaska in the United States.
We are setting a goal of $5,000 to help cover these expenses and ask for people to make donations to please help them get back on their feet again as they face these hurdles.
Thank you for the help, supportive comments, messages, support, prayers, and encouragement everyone.

Update on Casey.
His doctors consulted with us and they are concerned with the scarring on his neck. There is partial thickness burns on his body and neck, and they want to do surgery to try to minimize the very painful scarring and tugging/pulling of his skin as it heals.
There are a few patients in line in front of him, so they need to wait to get him into surgery. As soon as they are able, they will be performing the surgery, and hopefully, this can give him some relief from the pain.
Their fur babies are being taken care of in their absence. Currently they are concerned about paying the mounting medical expenses, their mortgage, bills and pet care in our absence, due to the extreme remoteness of where we live in Alaska .
Thank you immensely for the outpouring of love, donations, support, and encouragement during this difficult time, as his fiancé stays by his side, and we all help Casey to get back on his feet again ❤️
