Donate to Aldo's Kidney Transplant Journey

Donation protected
After lots of talking and evaluating options, we are reaching out to our friends and family to help. Many of you know that Aldo has been in end stage renal failure for several years now. He was doing fine for many years, but starting when Kingston was born (2021) he has slowly deteriorated and is waiting a transplant. He started on peritoneal dialysis (stomach dialysis) in 2022 and recently moved to hemodialysis (blood dialysis) as the peritoneal dialysis was failing and he had a raging infection. In 2024 Jessa and Aldo spent many weeks in the hospital trying to fight this infection, which we were finally able to get rid off after placing a chest catheter. Since then, we have been trying to fine tune Aldo’s dialysis while having a 5 year old and 3 year old at home. Aldo is on dialysis 5 days a week for about 5 hours a day. Aldo has been waiting for a transplant for 4 years. We did get a call in early October for a transplant, but in a rare complication we were unable to receive that kidney.

Jessa is working full time and doing gig work on the side. When Aldo isn't on dialysis, he does Uber and other gig work. Jessa's parents help with money and time, and Aldo's parents and sister are also helping with household expenses, but with the cost of living rising and medical bills piling in (despite good insurance) it has come to a point where we need some help. Dialysis per month costs between $150,00-$200,000. We luckily only pay the out of pocket max around $10,000 per year but as hard as we have tried we are unable to keep up with the year over year out of pocket maximum. Aldo is not a citizen so cannot receive any help or qualify for most grants until he becomes a citizen in August of 2025. All this compounded with Aldo not being able to work has put us in medical debt. We are asking those who are able to help us with our medical debt. Medical debt is very common in transplant patients (even affluent families) and it can even put your transplant at risk.

This is a difficult thing to ask (just ask Jessa she is quite embarrassed!) but many have asked how they can help and this would be the best option currently. We would love to eliminate this debt so we can move forward with our young kids and Aldo does not lose his spot on the transplant list.
