Donate to Aid Copper's Critical Recovery

Our family is heartbroken. On June 19th, our beloved dog Copper was viciously attacked by a loose Cane Corso while being walked on a leash by my sister-in-law, Leanne. Copper, our sweet 12-year-old dachshund, has been part of our family since he was just 4 years old — a constant companion to our son, who is now 16. They grew up together.

Copper has moved with us across the country — from Hawaii to Washington to California — as part of our military life. He’s more than just a pet. He’s family. A loyal little guy with a big heart, Copper has comforted us through deployments, welcomed us home with tail wags, and brought joy and stability through all of life’s transitions. Now, he’s fighting for his life.

During the walk, the Cane Corso escaped its property and launched a brutal attack on Copper. Leanne tried desperately to shield him and was also injured in the process. Copper suffered severe injuries and required emergency surgery. At 80 years old in human years, he’s in critical condition with a 50/50 chance of survival.

We’ve already spent over $8,000 for his treatment — an amount that was immediately placed on credit just to give him a fighting chance. We’re committed to doing everything possible to save him, but the financial burden is heavy.

To make matters worse, the dog’s owners have shown no remorse or responsibility. They didn’t respond when the police arrived, and their dog remained loose outside until animal control intervened. The authorities say it’s a civil matter, so no immediate help is being offered.

We are asking for your help. Any donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward covering Copper’s medical bills and ongoing care. If you’ve ever loved a pet like family, you know the depth of this pain. We’re trying to do right by Copper, who has given us so much love over the years.

Thank you for reading, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can give.
