Dog rescued on freeway

**Read update below to see why we increased our goal**
On my way to work (10/29), I came across a dog in the fast lane on the interstate 5 southbound that I believe had been thrown from a car. With the help of two other strangers, we were able to get him into my car and to the vet.
He has a chip, but the owners are yet to return our phone calls. This leads me to believe that he was not properly cared for. Thanks to the chip, we learned that his name is Eli and that he is between 3-4 years old.
He suffered road rash to the face and a broken hind leg.
A friend and myself paid out of pocket for the initial vet bill which totaled $2,160. We have deducted $200 from this amount (as our own donation) to arrive at our goal amount of $1,960.
The vet has informed us that without surgery, the leg will most likely heal improperly and possibly cause him chronic pain. We are unable to afford the surgery which has been quoted between $1,500 - $3,800. We are currently reaching out to rescues in the area, that may be able to pay for these additional medical costs. Obviously, any money raised over our goal will go towards paying for his surgery.
**UPDATE:
First of all, thank you so much to every person that has helped us raise the money to get Eli back on his feet.
Wednesday, we were referred to a low cost clinic in North Hollywood, Kinder4Rescue. My friend, Alex, was able to bring Eli in for surgery. The vet mentioned that in all her years working, she had only seen a broken leg this bad on one other occasion.
To afford the costs, we applied for a 0% APR loan through scratchpay for $3,800. Thankfully the surgery only toataled $1,575.
We we were also charged $340 from the original vet for Eli’s additional night stay.
Below I have posted pictures of our additional bills and also Eli’s staples from his surgery. I am currently working on getting a copy of the bill from Kinder4Rescue, since the scratchpay amount will not be adjust from $3,800 to $1,575 until November 7th.
If everything pans out, we also have a loving home lined up for him after his 2 week recovery time.
Any amount helps and we appreciate you taking your time to help us save Eli!
