Diyas For Diversity

Diyas for Diversity is a fundraising campaign that aims to add diverse books from the four corners of the world into the Public Libraries of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Books bring the world to children's feet, especially, when their little feet can't take them everywhere. Reading global literature opens a child's mind to new ideas, thereby, making them tolerant to different views. 

Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated to signify the victory of knowledge over ignorance. Diyas are lit to expel darkness - physically and metaphorically. 
By selling hand-painted Diyas (clay oil lamps lit for Diwali), I hope to raise funds, the profits of which will be used to buy global books, Braille books, audiobooks and Indigenous books from diverse authors across the globe. These will be donated to the Public Libraries of NL.

This year join the festivities by igniting a young mind. This Diwali light a Diya for Diversity.
